If you’re unhappy with your smile, porcelain veneers might be the solution. They’re a great way to get the smile you’ve always wanted. And while they’re not exactly permanent, they can last for years if well cared for.
Are porcelain veneers permanent?
Yes, you can have porcelain veneers permanently. These fixtures are actually considered the most durable tooth replacement option available today, and they provide a good solution for dental problems that require permanent solutions.
However, don’t expect these fixtures to last forever: they’re not eternal. If you don’t like them after a few years or so, you can always go back to your dentist and have them removed—but only if it’s at no cost to you!
How are porcelain veneers applied?
The process of getting porcelain veneers is similar to the process of getting traditional porcelain crowns. The difference is that veneers are much thinner and smaller than crowns, which means they can be applied directly to your teeth without having to build up the surrounding gum tissue first. This makes for a faster and less invasive procedure—in most cases it takes only two hours!
You’ll start by making an impression of your teeth using a putty-like material that conforms to all the surfaces of your teeth, including grooves and bumps on their top surface (called cusps). The mold will then be sent off to a dental lab where it will be used as the blueprint for creating a model of your teeth with the right shape and contours before being coated in porcelain enamel.
The final result: beautiful new permanent veneers that fit seamlessly over each individual tooth!
What do porcelain veneers look like?
The porcelain for your veneers is custom-made to fit your teeth, with a thin layer of the material applied to each tooth. These layers are then fired in an oven at high temperatures until they harden. The result is a thin layer of solid porcelain that looks just like natural teeth but are more resistant to wear and tear.
Porcelain veneers can also be used to correct misshapen incisors or straighten crooked front teeth, as well as change the color of your teeth if you prefer something different than what nature gave you!
Is getting porcelain veneers painful?
It is a minor procedure and is performed under local anesthesia. The dentist will numb your mouth with a temporary anesthetic to make you comfortable. You may feel some pressure as the veneers are placed on top of your existing teeth, but no cutting or stitches are used during this process. There is also no drilling or grinding of teeth as they are built up layer by layer.
Can porcelain veneers break?
The good news is that porcelain veneers are very strong and unlikely to break. The bad news is that they can be broken if you:
Eat hard foods. Eating too much candy or other hard foods can cause your teeth to shift and chip the veneer, which could then crack or chip further when you try to eat something else. Softening your diet will help prevent this problem, but if you need more incentive, consider eating a piece of candy after every meal instead of after every bite!
Drop them on a hard surface like a countertop or sidewalk (this includes dropping them in your mouth). This may sound silly, but keep in mind that if something heavy falls on top of your tooth it could break it—it’s just not likely with porcelain veneers because they’re so thin and lightweight!
Porcelain Veneers are a great way to get the smile you’ve always wanted.
Porcelain Veneers are a great way to get the smile you’ve always wanted. The procedure is quick and painless, and can change your appearance dramatically—so much so that sometimes people will think they’re looking at a different person!
Porcelain Veneers are made to look like your natural teeth. They’re also durable and long-lasting, so you’ll never have to worry about replacing them like you would with normal toothpaste or flossing. In fact, if properly cared for (brushing and flossing regularly), they can last up to 30 years!
Porcelain Veneers make a huge difference in your smile. Because they cover most of the visible portion of your teeth, it’s easy for people who see them every day (like friends) or even just once per week (like coworkers)
Porcelain veneers are a safe and effective way to get the smile you’ve always wanted. They can improve your appearance, boost your confidence and make you smile with pride.
