Why straighten your teeth?

Straight teeth are not only about looks. Crooked teeth and a bite that does not fit together are harder to keep clean, which raises the risk of decay and gum disease. They can also strain your chewing muscles and contribute to headaches and jaw (TMJ) problems.

How Invisalign works

1. Free exam

   We check whether you are a good candidate. Invisalign is for teens and adults; children who still have baby teeth are not candidates yet.

2. Records

   We take photos of your teeth and face, impressions and X-rays.

3. Your digital plan

   Your teeth are moved step by step on a 3D computer model. We review and refine the plan, and you can preview your results before starting.

4. Your aligners

   Your custom aligners arrive in about 2 to 4 weeks. You switch to a new set about every two weeks, and each set moves your teeth a little.

5. Check-ins

   We see you about every 4 to 6 weeks to make sure treatment is on track.

For the best results, wear your aligners at least 22 hours a day. The average adult case takes about 12 months; simpler cases can be faster.

Invisalign vs. braces

• Nearly invisible. Clear aligners are hard to notice, unlike metal brackets.
• Removable. Take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss.
• Comfortable. No wires or sharp metal to irritate your gums and cheeks.
• Easier to keep clean, which lowers the risk of gum problems during treatment.

Traditional braces are still the better choice for some complex bite problems. We do not offer braces in our office. If your exam shows braces would serve you better, Dr. Ramos will tell you so honestly, and you can see an orthodontist who offers them.

Insurance and payment

Coverage varies by plan. If your plan includes orthodontic benefits, many plans cover Invisalign, but not all do. We will review your benefits and your payment options with you.
